Why IEQ is important in Schools?
The comparative risk assessment studies performed by EPA’s Science Advisory Board (SAB) have consistently ranked indoor air pollution among the top five environmental risks to public health. Schools are on top of this as children are more vulnerable to pollution exposure than adults due to their incomplete lung development, low breathing height and high physical and breathing rates.
Indoor Environment Quality (IEQ) integrates multiple factors, like IAQ, building infrastructure and design that directly affect students’ cognitive abilities, health, and overall experience. Therefore, maintaining a good IAQ is an important component of a healthy indoor environment along with its right design, which can create an ideal environment in schools for learning, to increase the productivity and well – being of children and ultimately to achieve their primary goal of educating the children.
National IEQ conclave will provide the platform to schools and other educational institutes to understand the science and art behind IEQ and how to keep the best IEQ intact through subject experts and practitioners across India and Globe.
